Intro to Media Exam Instructions

You are the manager of a major Hollywood production firm.  Each year you are allotted 20 million dollars to fund films, ads, and public service announcements.  You will be presented with 20 proposals from people who need your money to get their projects made and you must decide who gets the money.

Rules for how you spend the money:
1.    Presentations will be conducted over TWO days with 10,000,000 available per class for a total of 20,000,000 total dollars.
2.    You may split the money anyway you like from 0 – 10,000,000 per film but your TOTAL amount may not exceed the 10,000,000 per day limit.
3.    You MUST spend all 10,000,000 each day.
4.    You may not finance your own project.
5.    Once the money is gone, you cannot fund anymore projects so CHOOSE WISELY!

Summer Reading You Choose Reports

Just a reminder since I've had several people ask...

Your reports have all been distributed to teachers for grading.  The grades, out of 110 points, will be given to you by the end of the month, however, the grades can not be added to your official grades until the end of the quarter.  The grade will make up 5% of your final quarter grade and that can not be accurately calculated until the end of the quarter!

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me or come see me!

Welcome back!

For those of you that are already used to coming here often, welcome back and keep it up. For those of you that are thinking "what the heck is this?" this is the center for all things associated with Ms. Weldele's classroom.

The calendar is where you'll find due dates as well as what's coming up in the next few classes (click on the entries that refer to your period to see additional information).

At the top of the page are some important tabs that you need to become familiar with: Google Apps Access is where you will be able to log in to view your google docs, etc.; Computer Lab Checkout is the form you fill out EVERY TIME we are in a computer lab; Family Access will take you to skyward so you can check your grades, etc.; Quizzes is where you will find current quizzes that are to be taken in class; Links will take you to a bunch of important/helpful links for things like research or projects.

These are just a few of the things the website has to offer, so... Explore. Ask Questions. Make sure you check back often. I'll be adding an extra credit opportunity in the first couple weeks so keep checking back or you'll miss it!

Mid-Quarter Progress Reports!

Progress reports are going out at the end of this week. I'll be posting all outstanding grades over the next few days. Anyone that has a quiz that still needs to be made up needs to sign out to my academic lab WEDNESDAY! See me to get your planner signed between now and the beginning of the lunch period Wednesday. As always, I will not sign planners after 11:00 AM (on Wednesday).

Also, there are several credit recovery opportunities available for those of you that need a little boost to your quiz grades.

JUNIORS! If you want a 2nd chance on your Huck Finn 2 quiz, sign out for academic lab WEDNESDAY. This is a one shot deal. If you don't show up Wednesday for any reason, you're out of luck.

SOPHOMORES! I will be handing out specific parts of the quiz to people depending upon where I saw weaknesses. You will be allowed to submit these for credit until Friday. These points will be added directly on to your quiz grades. THERE IS NO DOWN SIDE TO THIS!

EVERYONE! Don't forget about the Extra Credit Reading in the LMC. I know you think it's still early but we're already half way through 4th quarter. It's never to early to start!

See you Friday!

Productivity Form

We've hit a bit of a rough patch where people aren't staying caught up with their work so I'm adding an additional layer of accountability. At the end of each class, your "ticket out" will be the Productivity Form. It's super simple but allows you and I to see what you accomplished today as well as makes time for you to figure out exactly what still needs to be done before next class to stay caught up. This will be a standing assignment for every class until we are done with the Research Paper.

PRODUCTIVITY FORM

This form can also be found in the "Important Links" section to the right.

Period 7: Lit and Comp 2

Feel free to watch the above video again if you have any questions about what you should be working on today. At the end of class, please fill out the PRODUCTIVITY FORM. This will be for a grade. Make sure to fill it out completely and with details.

If you have any questions that you need to have answered before next class, please feel free to email me and I'll get back to you by the end of the day or stop by after lab today!

I'll be back for class Monday and we'll continue watching Star Wars as well as work on Revisions. Have a GREAT weekend and I'll see you next week!

DUE MONDAY:
  1. Articles copied and pasted into a new document named "MR2 Sources - LASTNAME" and shared with me.
  2. Notes taken IN YOUR OWN WORDS on both sources. Notes can be taken on the form or directly on the articles using "insert comment."
  3. 1st drafts are DUE. Must be at least 150 words.
  4. Write 3 additional Leads.
  5. Fill out the PRODUCTIVITY FORM before you leave class.

American Lit Research Paper

Mrs. Hoffman has a new resource that she'd like us to try out. It's called eLibrary and it's similar to SIRS but has more stuff. This would also fall under the category of NOT needing a web eval (like SIRS and Wilson Web). Check it out and let me know if you find anything you can use!

Video Production

Click here to begin learning about shot framing and composition. Watch the 1st video and take notes if necessary. You will need to know what each kind of shot is and when you would use that type of shot. There will be a quiz :)

Video Production Day One

Step 1: Click here to take the Video Production interest survey. Please answer honestly. There are no right or wrong answers! You will not be able to submit the form until all the questions are answered.

Step 2: When you are done with the survey, come back to this page and CLICK HERE to watch a very basic introduction to some of the concepts we will be dealing with this semester. There's a LOT more to shooting video than making sure the lens cap is off (although that is important too!).
